Hello. I'm Rob Hayward, a freelance front end web developer. I make websites, web apps and other digital cools.

  • Nokia S60 Mobile Widget article for .net magazine

I love this, my proudest moment since going freelance. Finally getting published in the magazine that's inspired me for the best part of a decade. I have a few ideas for more articles too, just need to find the time to put them all together.

Another personal project I've squeezed in around my freelance work. Experimenting with my own ideas is important to me and use it to develop new skills with the latest technologies and try new things. I have many innovative ideas for this site. I fully developed front and back end myself. Launched November 2009.

I worked closely with the guys at Netcars to bring a whole new user experience to the used car search model. I came up with the idea for the live search on the homepage and helped them to implement it and continue to develop the user experience with them.

A personal project that inspired me to go freelance so that I could concentrate more on developing my own ideas. A small web application where people can manage multiple properties, their measurements, fixtures and fittings for decorating and DIY. Almost 1,000 users signed up and it was featured in the Metro newspaper and Grand Designs magazine. Launched June 2009.

A quirky little microsite build and one very happy client. Most of the development was based around the application form prompts and 'live validation' to increase conversions. I introduced the 'bouncing buttons' for areas the client wants the users to focus on, fits well with the design.
